Motovun to Visnjan

Leaving Motovun behind us. Pretty from a distance, I don't know why it is such a popular tourist destination.

Devon is under the weather but still forging on. This is the railway bed between the town of Motovun and Visnjan.

The weather is changing. The wind has started to arrive and the rain will be here for tomorrow's ride. Motovun in the background on top of the hill.

Devon searching for the next photo opportunity.
Travel is not necessarily about the beauty of the places but in the people you meet along the journey.  We arrived in Visnjan and met Maria and ?, I am sorry I forgot his name, they greeted us when renting their apartment and invited us for some conversation over shots of nice plum Istrian brandy.  It ends up their daughter works for Amazon and travels extensively including Seattle. The following morning Maria had planned a nice breakfast for us, it is not a bed and breakfast, with them and their daughter who just arrived from her travels. We had to decline as the weather and the winds were against us and getting worse, we had to leave ASAP before we were blasted. I very big disappointment as we got seriously blasted with the rain and wind anyways.
Our Visnjan apartment is right next to this photo. It was Good Friday and a filling church.
We skipped church and went to dinner.
One of the dishes we had was a steak with truffles. They cooked the steak on an open fireplace. Fun to watch.

Sex, Sneezing, and Truffles.  So here is perhaps the best dinner on the trip. A wonderful Istrian Beef Fillet and Pasta smothered in Truffles. Now I am not particularly a fan of Truffles. But I have to say the fresh Truffles on this dish were orgasmic. Sneezing after a sexual experience is not that uncommon. And of course this is what happened to me. A bout of sneezing. So as we are paying our bill we get served complimentary brandy and I tell the male waiters about the sneezing. They had a good laugh.

A beautiful scene of the same tower after dinner.

  1. Unexpected high points always make for the best stories – who'd have thought truffles would have so affected your mojo? Or whatever you'd prefer to call it. Haha. Suzie
