Visnjan to Bale and a Bad Day Video

So what's not there to like about this day
Devon has definitely come down with a cold and lung thing. We skip having breakfast with some knewly found friends to head out on a rainy, rainy day. We're retired, what else is there to do?
The rain starts falling and our toe protectors aren't keeping the rain out. Since we elected not to bring our cycling water proof shoe covers that marginally work we resorted to plastic grocery bags. Here Devon is doing her final fit.
Now all things would have been fine with the bags had we had some tape to keep them close to the shoes as they tended to get caught on the bicycle crank and chain. After two sets of bags our feet still got wet, but not as bad.
Now the other bad part of the story is that we are riding highways. It is bad enough to have the rain but it is amazing how well the vehicles and trucks can time the puddles so they hit you so perfectly. We also had a very long and moderately steep 3.5 km hill. It would be tough when it is sunny and feeling good but another story when your sick with burning lungs in the pouring rain. We pushed the bikes the entire way.
At the end of the day this incredibly cute and historic town of Bale awaited us.  This nice little bar was a hang out of Casanova. Yes, the Casanova! It wasn't open for the season yet but when we peared through the windows the owner opened the door for us and we were treated to more of the Istrian Brandy. The sense of accomplishment was great and Devon was even able to smile with the brandy in hand.
A short clip of Devon and her day of misery and a choice word for me. LOL!! TURN UP THE VOLUME.

  1. Hey guys, we hope you can slow down and take a break, so Devon can rest and recover! It’s no fun being sick while you are traveling… especially not when you have to ride uphill in the rain! Devon is such a trooper… see if you can find some linden tea, linden tree should grow pretty easily around there, and it’s great for colds and chest stuff. xoxo H& K in PV

  2. Great video clip - you guys are really pros at both the travel and reporting! I can feel Devon’s pain and discomfort. I too have a bad cold, but am cozy in my house and have the hot tub to soothe. Take care of yourselves! Love you, J and A, Msla

  3. Thanks for the comments. Now I have the cold after days of Devon coughing on me. I guess we both should have worn masks to bed.
