Parenzana Trail

Today's post covers two short rides Buje to Groznjan  and Groznjan to Motovun. Devon is coming down with a mild cold so we are going to take short hops. This is a picture of Groznjan just an 8km ride from Buje. We found a nice B&B that just opened, for the season, the day before our arrival. I guess these towns are major tourist destinations for day trips. People vacationing on the coast take the tour bus up for the day. The villages are so small I suspect it doesn't take much to pack them out. Fortunately our travel time beat the tourist season.

The Parenza Trails smooth sections.

Groznjan, you can see how hilly it has gotten.

The rough cobbled streets of Groznjan. You can literally walk the whole village in 15 minutes but still be able to get lost as the cobbled baths are so twisted and intertwined.

We were a bit nervous that we would not have any food for lunch or dinner. The B&B had a restaurant that we thought was opened but it hadn't opened for the year yet. We them found this bar that had pizza, we were in luck.

Who is this guy?

A quick and easy video with some of it showing the steepness of the roads. The one hill Devon is pushing her bike up is a 20 degree hill with slippery coarse cobbles. The music is a bit corny but oh well.

The steep pathways of Motovun.  Motovun is the birthplace of Mario Andretti the Italian race car driver. This part of Croatia was part of Italy when he was born.
Our small hobbit house.

A spectacular afternoon from our little hobbit house deck.
